The following are positions we are currently hiring for:
Intern - Processing Technician
- WINTER 2026 position specifically
- This position is for current UCSB Undergraduate students. Ideally in a technical field, optionally having taken one of the cleanroom course (neither are required).
- If you have no prior experience, but have some hands-on technical background in other fields, that is ok.
- 6 month minimum hire, 10hr per week, paid. (Unpaid may also be available.)
- UCSB Work-study is accepted.
- A position in the "Process Group", led by Demis D. John.
- Running thin-film deposition calibrations on various high-use tools, as listed on the Process Control data pages.
- These are user-accessible (public) charts and data that lab-users consult to ensure the tools are operating as expected, and/or for troubleshooting problems in the fabrication process.
- Will transition into Lithography & Plasma-Etch & Vacuum Deposition calibrations over time.
- To Apply: You can send an email to Demis. We review apps every ~2 months or so, so you will receive a response ~4-6 weeks later once we start looking to fill the next cohort. Ok to followup and make sure we got it. Please send the following info:
- Your Résumé. List any hands-on and/or technical experience, paid or unpaid (including hobbies).
- What grade/year you are in, if a student, and what school.
- Seniors often can't do 6 month-long internships, due to graduation!
- Can you work during the summer as well? Not required, but helpful.
